Other retailers were selling this White Unicorn Pinata at S$55 but I found this at Kidforte for only S$27.  

This large Disco Ball was sold at most of the party supply stores at varying prices between $50 to $120.  But I got it at a steal of S$30 at Yeo GM Trading!

The 15-minute birthday party

Today I threw a birthday party for my son.  For a party with 30 kids, it was over all too soon!

This whirlwind party was the quickest and easiest party I have organized.  All that was needed was a cake, some table decorations, goodie bags full of unhealthy snacks, and a bit of luck - catering to 30 seven-year-olds is no mean feat.  

My seven-year-old son, Krysh wanted a "playable Angry Bird cake", so I bought his favourite chocolate cake (from Bengawan Solo) and decorated it with Angry Bird toys bought from the local peddlers.  His classmates sang him a birthday song, the cake was cut, and devoured! Some even asked for seconds - there were no left overs!

Kids love goodie bags. And when the birthday boy distributed the goodie bags, there were squeals of delight! Mamee noodles and chips - sorry moms, but the kids LOVE them.  And of course an Angry Bird multi-coloured pen!

And then, they were off to play with the cake toppings!! 15 minutes! And the party was done!

We left the kids in school, all happy and pumped up with sugar, MSG and adrenaline... (Sorry teachers, we hope they didn't give you too much trouble).

1. ET Artisan Sweets is a cake boutique specializing in Parisian macarons, tarts, bespoke wedding cakes, cupcakes and cookies.

You can choose from any 2D or 3D designs, although the staff is quite helpful with their feedback on how the cake will turn out.

This particular cake on the left cost $220 (22 servings) or $295 (36 servings). Tax included.

Cupcakes cost $7 (2D) to $9 (3D) each. Pre-order cakes at least 2 weeks in advance. You may need to give more notice if their schedule is particularly busy that month.

2. Ecreative Group provides competitive prices and good after sales services, as well as on-time delivery. They are also open to your suggestions and will try to customize for you whenever possible.

Ecreative can do photo-print cakes for you as well. All you have to do is email them the photo.

This fantasy castle cake on the right cost $300 (4.5kg) to $321 (4.5kg), inclusive of GST.

Pre-order is generally a week ahead although you should book earlier with more complicated designs.

3. ’Life’s simple pleasures’ is Cake Avenue Singapore‘s moto. And they have lived up to it with these beautiful cakes that look too good to eat.
